Dash Film is a film, video content and new media production company founded in 2012. Our mission is to create a strong bond between our passion for cinema and the stories that burst in reality, creating beautiful films and breathtaking visual experiences.
Our portfolio includes a variety of film productions (short films, documentaries, music videos, commercials, presentation films). The most recent project in which Dash Film has been involved with all its resources is a visual one, developed in several directions, illustrating the history of housing in Bucharest, starting from the early years of the 20th century – the period when the first housing estates were built for the underprivileged social classes. In 2020, in partnership with the Studio Zona Association, we produced a series of 10 short documentary episodes describing the history of 10 housing estates in Bucharest: “Beyond the City Centre. The Journal of a Society”. Also in 2020, we participated as co-producers in the shooting of the film “A White Flamingo” directed by Dragoș Hanciu, and in 2019, the company’s main activity was focused on the development of two feature film scripts.
Studio Zona Association was founded in 2016 by researchers from the Faculty of History of the University of Bucharest and the University of Architecture and Urbanism “Ion Mincu”. The research directions focus on urban and cultural history, especially that of Bucharest and its complementary political and social aspects in the 20th century. Studio Zona aims to develop research towards the social and political context of urban life and to revisit overlooked aspects of urban dynamics; it investigates the evolution of architecture and urbanism at the intersection of memory, oblivion and representation. In March 2021 it launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds needed to print new books, which attracted 223 unique supporters who donated RON 24163, and over 400 people attended the launch of the first book. With the support of OAR, from 2016 to today SZ has carried out 7 projects (publishing of books, brochures, creation of the website and two exhibitions): 2016 – the project “Historical Plots and Neighborhood Communities”; 2017 – the project “Historical Plots and Neighborhood Communities”; 2018 – the project “House of Constructions – brochures and exhibition”; 2019 – the book “The Ideal of Bucharest Housing” and the website “Historical Plots”. asz.ro; 2020 – the website “Stadion de Cartier” and the book “Vatra Luminoasă”; 2021 – the project “Parcelări muncitorești” and the book ”Istoria cartierului Ferentari”.
