Did you know?

In Vatra Luminoasa neighborhood, prefabricated elements were used instead of plastered brickwork for the first time in Bucharest?

At one of the blocks we find concrete only in the foundations and in a few poured floors. Thus, the two factories, one for concrete and one for mortar, which were planned for the site, were very little used. In 1955, although they had poured approx. 40% of the foundations, none of the factories had come into operation. As a result, one of them served as a canteen, with only the second producing both concrete and mortar. The prefabricated elements were produced at the Vulcan Factories, and in 1955 they were integrated into the construction of the neighborhoods of Floreasca, Vatra Luminoasa and the residential complex in the Giurgiului area – Vrabiei entrance.
